RICHARD DEON
13 Virtues Project
Hudson Valley winters are long and boring. To keep myself engaged I created a set of 13 prints based on Benjamin Franklins 13 Virtues. Since Franklin was a commercial printer, I consider this project a tribute to his "tools of the trade"--ie.  engaging text, inspirational messaging, and typography. This collector's set of thirteen 4 x 6 inch signed prints is available at www.richarddeon.com

As a teenager, Richard Deon remembers a chance discovery of a defaced 1950s era textbook that changed his view of art. He extended the illustrations into the margins, creating new scenes. As Deon says, "I doodled my own Manifest Destiny."
Deon’s traveling solo exhibition “Paradox & Conformity” has been hosted at the Hudson River Museum (Yonkers, NY), CCC Strozzina, Palazzo Strozzi (Florence, Italy), the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art (Sedalia, MO) and Broward College, (Davie, FL).
Richard Deon grew up in Potsdam, NY and graduated from the School of Visual Arts. He balances projects in graphic design and visual art between Dover Plains and Poestenkill, NY.
